Anato-Bee Competition

Anato-Bee

Do you know a high school student who is interested in sciences, especially anatomy? The UMMC graduate program in Clinical Anatomy has been selected to be a local host for the inaugural Anato-Bee competition. Local high schools can register for this competition, in which they will test their knowledge of embryology, histology, and gross anatomy through a virtual (via Zoom) multiple-choice question assessment on February 24, 2024. The top three students at the local level will move on to a designated Southern regional competition to be held in person on April 6 and 7, 2024.  The regional competition will include an anatomy lab practical, standardized patient diagnoses, a written exam on the anatomical sciences, and an oral quiz on clinical applications of their anatomical knowledge. Winners will receive a stipend for a summer research experience to jumpstart their academic studies and careers in the anatomical and/or biomedical sciences. The Anato-Bee website has learning objectives for the gross anatomy, histology, and embryology that students should study, along with links to several useful resources for studying. Please help us spread the word to students who may be interested, as well as high school educators who may wish to encourage their students’ participation. Student registration opens September 1st!

Feel free to email the local chapter contact, Audra Schaefer (aschaefer2@umc.edu), with any questions.
